Culver’s – Butter Burgers and Fresh Custard

When I was down in Florida last week, I kept hearing advertising for Culver’s. They said they used midwest beef for their burgers and hand churned their ice cream daily. Well, when you are working hard, you get pretty hungry. So when I was on an errand, I saw a Culver’s, and of course I stopped in for a bite to eat.

Culver’s in Port St. Lucie, Florida

It was perfect timing and the ideal location; I guess you can say: I was at the right place at the right time.

Culver’s was opened in 1984 by Lea and Craig along with their parents George and Ruth. The first one opened in the family’s hometown of Sauk City, Wisconsin. George was the son of a cheesemaker and grandson of a farmer. George’s early years was working for Wisconsin Dairies Cooperative grading and inspecting dairy farms. Ruth Culver was at home raising their children and making meals for her family which one of the children’s favorites was her butter burgers. She also instilled great family virtues, which they passed onto their restaurant employees, so that is why their restaurants have that family feel.

Craig combined his love for his mom’s homemade hamburgers with his favorite childhood treat, Fresh Frozen Custard, creating their signature combination: Culver’s ButterBurgers and Fresh Frozen Custard.

Their burgers are thin, so next time I go, I think I would go for the double stacked burger. It tasted so fresh, and the lettuce was crisp, and the tomato was just right! I decided to get their salted caramel shake without adding anything in it even though they had many ingredients you could add into your shake.

Check out their menu here.

I would recommend looking up their locations and finding a Culver’s next time you are close to one!

Please let me know if you have ever been to a Culver’s before!
