If you are looking for hotels in Savannah, one choice is the TRYP by Wyndham in the Historic District.
The Location of the TRYP
Hotels in Savannah can be found all over the city, but I personally love staying in the historic district. As I walk around Savannah, I may stroll down the cobblestone streets, marveling at the city’s beautiful architectural buildings. I also get the chance to see many landmark squares, such as Pulaski Square, which is right around the corner from the TRYP. The TRYP is close to the historic downtown and is a short walk to many of the museums in the area, such as The SCAD Museum of Art, Georgia State Railroad Museum, Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum If visitors need additional information about the city, The TRYP is only a five-minute walk to the Savannah Visitor Center where they can get all the information needed about places to visit as well as places to eat in Savannah.
The TRYP Hotel
The TRYP is a great choice for a moderately priced hotel, but the price depends on when you are traveling. It is a contemporary design with clean lines and a comfortable atmosphere. The TRYP has a restaurant called Kitchen 320, where they serve both breakfast and dinner. However, the southern-style breakfast is not included in the price. Or perhaps you’d like to eat at one of the many great places in Savannah for breakfast as my family and I did. We chose to eat breakfast at The Grey Market, not far away.
The Rooms
The rooms are quite large, and they are designed like a suite versus only a hotel room. When you enter, there is a desk, a couch, a coffee table, and a sitting chair with a large TV. The front room has a wet bar with a refrigerator, and the connecting bathroom is very spacious. There is a good-sized closet with a safe inside, and the door has a full-length mirror on it.
Parking and Transportation
If you are staying in the Historic District of Savannah, then most likely, you will walk to many of your destinations. With just a short walk, you can get to many of my favorite places, which may become your favorites as well. If not, you do have other options for transportation, including a trolley, if you do not feel like walking or if the weather is inclement, valet parking is available for $30 for the 24 hour period. Or you can self-parking in the parking garage across the street, which we did, or on the street. Check the parking lot hours; it is only open certain hours, so call the hotel to learn more. Savannah is a walkable city; we knew we were going to walk the town, so the parking garage hours worked for us.
The Overall Experience
The staff was very friendly and helpful on our visit. They suggested places to visit, eat, and shop. They even gave us bottles of water for our stay. We had a lovely conversation with each staff member. The hotel was clean and well kept, which for us is a major plus!
We stayed only one night, so we didn’t get to experience dining with them; next time we will. But overall, we enjoyed our stay and will definitely make a return visit.
