The Epcot Food and Wine Festival is a fantastic experience that MUST be on everyone's bucket list. I have had the pleasure to live and travel to many places which gave me an opportunity to eat authentic flavors of food. New York City was one of those cities that was easy to find the best authentic food because it's the melting pot of the world! I remember when I lived there that no matter what time it was, I could find a place open where I could get something to eat. Usually, a diner was open that had a wide variety of menu choices available. Fortunately, I still live in an area that has an international population, so I still have access to many different kinds of food. However, I have found as I have traveled to much of the USA, some people are not as lucky as I am. If you don’t get to travel a lot, one place you can experience a taste of many international foods that are all delicious and authentic to their country of origin is Epcot at Disney in Orlando, Florida. My family and I have been to Florida many times, but this time we decided to attend the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. Last year my husband and I stayed at Bonnet Creek Resort and attended The Taste of Epcot Festival is running from June - November 2020, check the Disney Website here for more information. When you enter the Festival, you can pick up the Festival Passport for FREE. In it, you will not only find what countries and events that are happening, but what samplings of food and drinks that are available. This is great because you can plan where you want to eat, or you can walk around and see the menu board as you approach each pavilion. During the festival, you will see new pavilions that are not usually in Epcot; so you get to eat other foods that you may not have experienced at Epcot before. Special Events Not all of the activities at the Festival are free. There are exclusive classes for cooking and other events for which you have to purchase separate tickets. They also have bands almost every night, and they are popular bands that are playing at the American Pavilion. Everyone can listen, but if you want a seat. you should get in line early in the evening to guarantee a seat. Epcot has changed its fireworks show this year, but we didn’t stay to see it this time. However, we did see it the next night when we got back to our resort which was across the street from Epcot. I will say this was one of our most enjoyable visits to Epcot, and we have been there over 30 times! We had around 2 hours to try all the different foods, but I recommend a little more time, especially if you want to see some of the shows or shop in the stores. Here is our itinerary of where we decided to stop and eat. We started eating at the first Pavilion. Islands of the Caribbean Jerk-spiced Chicken with Roasted Sweet Plantain Salad and Mango Chutney Yogurt Frozen Mojito This is what they suggested would be a great pairing. Thailand Marinated Chicken with Peanut Sauce and Stir-fried Vegetables Shrimp and Cold Noodle Salad India Warm Indian Bread with Pickled Garlic, Mango Salsa, and Coriander Pesto Dips. Madras Red Curry with Roasted Cauliflower, Baby Carrots, Chickpeas, and Uncle Ben's Basmati Rice Germany Roast Bratwurst in a Prop & Peller Pretzel Roll Apple Strudel with Vanilla Sauce Japan Teriyaki Chicken Bun: Steamed Bun filled with Chicken, Vegetables and a Sweet Teriyaki Sauce *My nieces favorite Brazil Crispy Pork Belly with Black Beans, Tomato, and Onions Moqueca: Brazilian Seafood Stew featuring Scallops, Shrimp and White Fish with Coconut-Lime Sauce and Steamed Rice - One of my favorites France Napoleon is a French pastry that was not part of the Food and Wine samplings, yet they have a bakery that I always go to when I would visit Epcot. We also got a beignet filled with rich chocolate. My husband had the chocolate moose served in a cup. Sorry, no photo on these. Flavors From Fire Charred Chimichurri Skirt Steak on a Smoked Corn Cake with Pickled Vegetable Slaw and Cilantro Aioli If you are able to go to Florida, I would definitely recommend going to Disney’s Epcot.
